CAMERA & PRODUCTION
Dean’s camera experience spans over three decades of professional broadcast production, from fast-moving news environments and live event coverage to carefully crafted documentary filmmaking and high-end corporate campaigns. Trained and developed within the BBC, one of the world’s most demanding broadcast environments, his approach to camera work is defined by editorial intelligence as much as technical skill. Every shot is considered in terms of what it contributes to the story, not just how it looks in isolation.
He is equally comfortable operating in highly controlled studio environments and unpredictable, challenging locations, having shot documentaries and corporate content across more than 40 countries, in conditions ranging from remote international locations to busy urban environments. Clients include the BBC, Discovery, Al Jazeera, Dropbox, the NHS, Oracle, Microsoft and Orange.
Dean has his own full broadcast kit comprising of; a Canon C300 Mk2, 2 Canon C300 Mk1s, full lighting kit, full sound kit, DJI gimbal, crane, slider and drone.
EDITING & POST-PRODUCTION
The edit suite is where a film is truly made, and Dean’s editing experience is as deep as his production background. With over 30 years of cutting everything from broadcast documentaries to corporate campaigns, he brings the same storytelling discipline to post-production that he applies on location, shaping footage into a clear, compelling narrative that communicates your message and holds your audience’s attention from first frame to last.
He works across industry-standard editing platforms including Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere Pro, and is experienced in all aspects of post-production: picture editing, sound mixing, colour grading, graphics integration and delivery to broadcast or digital specifications. Whether working with his own footage or cutting material shot by another operator, Dean delivers finished films that are polished, precise and on brief.
