WHO IS YOUR TRAINER?
I worked in live TV across the BBC for 23 years, both on the technical side, behind the cameras, then Directing and vision mixing, and then on the editorial side Producing. Once I left the BBC 10 years ago, I started recording online training courses using a multi-camera Virtual studio. This worked well and quickly achieved great visibility but I needed to really hone the production process to be faster and more efficient.
When COVID came I wanted to be able to do multi-camera, live streamed training with play in content and various interactive tools, so i built a new ‘real’ studio set, which is known as the engine room and has somewhat become my brand. More and more people saw the studio on camera and wanted to know how I’d built it and what equipment I used and why. Increasingly I started helping people build their own home studios. This lead to larger studio design, installation, consultancy work and training, for broadcasters and online publishers around the world.
